Dixons Retail Introduction

Northern Europe

The Elkjop group is the leading specialist electrical retailer across the Nordics, with a superb reputation as a business, for customer service, for product range and for the very latest technology at great prices. Similarly to the UK, Elkjop stores have been going through an extensive and intensive period of refits to make them more exciting and easier places to shop.

With the online market less mature than the UK but developing rapidly, the various Elkjop brands are now moving fast to become truly multichannel operations like their UK cousins.

Elkjop and Lefdal stores operate in Norway, El Giganten in Sweden and Denmark and Gigantti in Finland.

Southern Europe

Our Southern Europe team currently operates businesses in Greece.

Kotsovolos is Greece's leading specialist electrical retailer. Kotsovolos has the strongest market share of any of our brands, with customers increasingly turning to us in challenging times for the Greek market.

UK & Ireland

Currys and PC World are the market-leading retail brands in multichannel electricals and computing respectively. There are over 500 stores across the UK and Ireland, predominantly in the most popular out-of-town retail parks, but also in some premium high street and shopping centre locations. Increasingly, the two brands appear together in '2-in-1' Currys PC World locations. By introducing this concept, we have seen an increase in appeal to wider demographics, higher footfall, rising customer satisfaction levels and increasing profitability.

Supporting Currys and PC World is our rapidly growing and award-winning end-to-end services brand Knowhow. Knowhow was launched in 2011 to better serve customers throughout the lifetime of their products and to help them get the best of their technology. With services including delivery and installation, repair, and upgrade, Knowhow is continuing to widen the breadth of services offered. Last year for example, the Knowhow repair lab was accredited to repair a variety of Apple products for the first time, and the repair of white goods in the home by specialist Knowhow engineers was launched.

PC World Business, a service to support small local business IT and technology needs, is based within Currys and PC World stores nationwide.

Dixons Travel is a successful and popular multichannel store brand based at airports, serving business and leisure travellers with their technology needs before they fly. In recent years Dixons Travel has spread its wings, now serving customers outside the UK and Ireland: we already have outlets in Belgium, Italy and Denmark.
