First UK customer snaps up Samsung's Galaxy tab 10.1
Yuk Lin Wong from Edgware becomes the first official owner of a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 in the UK at Currys and PC World in London
4th August, London, UK – Samsung's eagerly anticipated Galaxy Tab 10.1 is now available to buy in stores across the UK. The UK's leading electrical retailers, Currys and PC World, which have been taking pre-orders for the WiFi version of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 over the last ten days, opened their Tottenham Court Road store in London at 5pm last night, a day before the official launch for customers to collect their products, with Yuk Lin Wong from Edgware becoming the first person in the UK to collect her Galaxy Tab 10.1.
The WiFi version of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be available exclusively for a month both online and in Currys and PC World stores nationwide.
Announced earlier this year at Mobile World Congress, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 is available in both 3G and WiFi only versions, and is the thinnest mobile tablet of its screen size on the market at only 8.6 millimetres. It is a lightweight 565 grams and features a 10.1 inch crystal clear WXGA TFT LCD screen. The WiFi version of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be available exclusively for a month from today both online and in Currys and PC World stores nationwide.
Simon Stanford, Managing Director, Mobile, Samsung UK and Ireland said: "Having announced the arrival of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 earlier this year, we were confident that it would prove popular with UK consumers. We're delighted that the initial interest in our slimmest, lightest and smartest tablet at last night's event was positive and that our consumers now have a range of Galaxy Tabs to choose from."
Mark Slater, Category Director for Computing, Communications and Office, added: "We have had a huge amount of interest in the Galaxy Tab 10.1 both online and in store over the last ten days when we announced the device was available for pre-order. And the level of excitement in our Tottenham Court Road store last night suggests that this latest addition to Samsung's range of tablets is going to prove popular. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 joins the ever-growing line-up of tablet computers in our Currys and PC World stores and once more ensures we are offering the best range possible for our customers."
The Galaxy Tab 10.1 is available from £399 at Currys and PC World and can be ordered online by logging on to www.currys.co.uk/samsunggalaxytab and www.pcworld.co.uk/samsunggalaxytab.
