Dixons Retail has the Service 'Knowhowâ„¢'

  • Knowhow celebrates 1st Anniversary
  • 40% growth in Service sales through first year
  • Knowhow to deliver direct to customers on behalf of LG

Dixons Retail's service brand Knowhow is celebrating a first year of significant growth after being rolled out across the UK in May and June 2011. Knowhow, with its interactive website www.knowhow.com, is an end-to-end services brand which helps customers get the most out of their products.

Knowhow is now starting to deliver and install LG products (both brown and white goods, including LG's popular side-by-side fridge freezer range and market-leading new Smart televisions) to customers' homes on behalf of LG, regardless of where the product was purchased. Knowhow™ already delivers on behalf of Whirlpool and Beko, and now expects to be making over 50,000 third party deliveries per year.

Knowhow now employs some 4,000 people in the UK, based in Currys and PC World stores, in its Newark distribution centre and repair lab, in its Sheffield call centre, and throughout the UK delivering to customers' homes.

The state-of-the-art Newark lab, which opened fully in July 2011, now repairs some 10,000 laptops and televisions per week. Knowhow now makes 2.5 million deliveries per year, including 500,000 installations of white goods, cookers and televisions. The company has seen 40% growth in Added Value Services since launch, with its 'Walk out Working' services and the take-up of market-leading Cloud products proving particularly popular.

Steve Gibb, Home Services Director for Knowhow, comments, "Knowhow was launched to help Dixons Retail own every touch point with customers and ensure we deliver consistently excellent service throughout a product's lifecycle. I am delighted that LG have recognised the market-leading services we can offer their customers as Knowhow goes from strength to strength.

I would like to thank Whirlpool for being the first business to place their trust in us and recently renewing with us, as well as Beko for joining us more recently, adding cooking installations to their strong customer proposition."
