Currys and PC World Fast-Track Roll-Out of Google 'Shop in Shops'
- 50 Locations now operating
Dixons Retail plc, Europe’s leading specialist multi-channel electrical retailer and services company, has completed a fast-track roll-out of ‘Google Zones’ within its stores, after a successful trial in its flagship Currys and PC World store in Tottenham Court Road, which was launched late last year.
The nationwide network of Google shop-in-shops is the first of its kind worldwide, and is staffed by dedicated staff trained in using the range of Google Chromebooks to demonstrate all their unique benefits and features to customers. Chromebooks are fast, easy-to-use, and come without all the headaches of ordinary computers. They are simple to maintain with built-in virus protection and are easy to share with others. Chromebooks are also more future-proof than traditional PCs and get better over time thanks to automatic software updates. Customers can also try out Google’s Nexus 7 tablet at the in-store Google Zones.
Mark Slater, Category Director for Computing at Dixons Retail, comments, “Customers love the versatility and ease of use of the Chromebook range, and a dedicated area in-store, with specialist staff on hand, is a great way for customers to experience the product and learn the benefits of a unique operating system. In stores with a Google Zone, sales of Chromebooks represent over 10% of our notebook sales.”
He continues, “We are particularly excited by the recent launch of the new Samsung Chromebook. This is our best selling Chromebook to date and one of the best selling products in our entire laptop range.”
