BARCELONA, SPAIN, 29 MARCH, 2007:
DSG international plc, Europe's leading specialist electrical retailing group, today announces the launch of MYPIX.com, a digital photo storage and processing service to be offered online and via in-store kiosks in Currys and PC World. All PCs and laptops distributed by DSG international stores will also be pre-loaded with software that enables access to the MyPIX.com service.
The market for photo processing in Europe is estimated to be worth £6 billion per annum, of which an estimated 10% is ordered online.
Announcing the launch at the World Retail Congress in Barcelona, John Clare, chief executive of DSG International said: "I am pleased to announce the launch of MyPIX.com. This exciting, convenient and cost-effective service will offer free storage of all digital images to all our Group customers, plus the best value in on-line prints from these images, direct to your home from only 3p per print."
MyPIX.com has been developed and implemented by PIXmania.com, the Group's pan-European e-commerce brand. The MyPIX.com service will be offered via all of the Group's e-commerce sites, including Dixons.co.uk, Currys.co.uk and PCWorld.co.uk.
John Clare added: "This is a further example of the benefits of a multi-channel execution, which is core to our strategy. Customers will hear about MyPIX in all Group stores, will be able to access it through all Group websites and will find it pre-loaded on many of the PCs that we sell from May 1st."
MyPIX.com digital processing labs will be introduced into all 160 Currys.digital UK High Street Stores in the next three months, and will be tested in a selection of Currys and PC World out-of-town stores at the same time. The initial print capacity will be 1 million prints per day. MyPIX.com will make available a wide range of gift items capable of incorporating customers' digital images over the coming months.
